Senior Slump? Snap Out from It! We understand you have got worked very hard over the last few years taking most of those challenging courses, getting involved in numerous extracurriculars, taking on leadership positions, etc. And, you are undoubtedly working quite difficult now on your university applications. You’ll feel very tempted to put your school work off in support of other, more exciting possibilities (senior ditch time, anyone?) But trust us, now is not the time to slack off. You came this far, and you want to ensure that you finish strong. And not on your own peace of mind, though we do hope you’ve got your very own internal motivations. Realistically, though, what’s going to probably motivate you most to keep those year that is senior up is just a little something called the Mid-Year Report.

The Mid-Year Report is a very Common Application form that must be submitted by your therapist after very first semester year that is senior become available. Our office takes these grades into account, and expects that the trend in your grades will continue. That means that if you’re earning high grades prior to, there is no reason those As shouldn’t be reflected on your Mid-Year Report.

And while we’re in the topic, senioritis is not an excuse to allow your second-semester senior year grades slip, either. We shall be sent a last transcript from your high college, and will make sure that those grades are intact, too. As always, we reserve the right to rescind any admission decisions.

So, moral of the story is: continue working hard, up until the very last day’s senior year. And, prepare to function even harder (but have actually lots of fun too) in college!

The Art of the Supplement

Our deadline that is first is around the corner. Is it possible to believe it?! December 1st is less compared to a month away. Students applying for talent-based majors must submit a bit more information, therefore we’ve clarified a things that are few the process.

In addition to doing the App that is common and Writing Supplement, pupils deciding on the Iovine and Young Academy, Roski class of Fine Arts, class of Architecture, School of Cinematic Arts, School of Dramatic Arts, and also the Thornton School of musical must finish the Arts Supplement.

In order to do that, students require to respond ‘yes’ to the question, ‘Do you intend to submit an art supplement which means that your special skill in one or higher associated with the arts is considered as section of the admission process to University of Southern California?’ on the Writing health supplement. This permits the link to Slideroom to appear into the left column of Common App.


Thornton: Students must be prescreened before being invited for an audition. To do this, students must upload recordings to the ‘Fall DecisionDesk portal’ by the December 1st deadline. They must also complete the creative Art Supplement in Slideroom. Thornton will be sending students an audition confirmation in late December. Please only submit a Slideroom health supplement for a major to which you are applying.

Dramatic Arts: To schedule an audition for the BFA, students must indicate their top three audition date preferences on Slideroom. If students are not able to go to a live audition, they must select ‘Recorded Audition’ on Audition Date Preference #1 and upload a recording on the ‘Media’ tab in Slideroom.


Dramatic Arts: All applicants applying to the BA in Dramatic Arts system are expected to schedule an interview with an admission counselor either in person or on the device. Pupils can subscribe to this meeting on the Dramatic Arts web site.

Portfolio distribution:

Fine Arts: In addition to questions that are answering the student’s creative experience, pupils must submit 10-15 images on the Media tab on Slideroom. They are added one at time and may not be added in PDF format.

Iovine and Young Academy: Applicants are needed to submit an initial video of only one minute that illustrates an original concept for an innovative product, service or system that solves a problem, addresses a need, or provides the opportunity. In addition to this video, students may submit up to 5 media files including artistic images, motion graphics, original music recordings, poems, and essays. Every one of these components should be uploaded to the Media tab within Slideroom.

Architecture: pupils can upload drawing, sketching, painting, graphic design, photography, movie, web-design, sculpture, ceramics and furniture design project examples to the Media tab on Slideroom. The admission committee would like to see proof of imagination. Up to 25 examples may be submitted.

Cinematic Arts: Depending on the program to that your student applies, pupils must submit a statement that is personal writing test, creative portfolio list, reactions to brief response questions, and URLs in Slideroom. The Media tab is where students should upload visual test, video, and pictures.
